In The Lodge
Tuesday 10th October 2023 saw the start of the Masonic Season for our Lodge.
The first ceremony of the year was the "Raising" of Bro. Jamie K. (3nd degree ceremony). The ceremony was presided over by W.Bro. David H. and other "Past Masters" of the Lodge and was followed by a three course supper in the dining room of the Lodge. During the evening the members were balloted and the Worshipful Master for the coming Centenary Year was elected. W.Bro. Jeff B. will be installed at next month's meeting on 14th November 2023.

2018/2019 Worshipful Master Gary Body, Mrs Jackie Body & Charity Steward W.Bro. Fred Body handing over the cheque to Friends of Burnham on Sea hospital. This cheque represents the monies raised at various fundraising events during Gary's year in the chair of Alfred & Guthrum.
Tyler's Sword Refurbished
May 2020 - With the help of the Army, and W. Bro. David Hembery's son, Paul, our Tyler's sword has been refurbished and looks almost as good as new. I'm sure we are all looking forward to getting back to Lodge so we can see it in all it's splendour.
The sword belonged to Captain Edward James Smith, who was a teacher at Hugh Sexey's School before joining the Army in 1914 to fight in The Great War. Captain Smith was killed in action in September 1916. After his death his grieving parents donated his sword to our Lodge. It is still in regular use at our meetings.
Captain Smith is remembered on a board in Sexey's School, a plaque in Holy Trinity Church, Blackford. Following the war his parents commissioned and paid for an extension to the church dedicated to the memory of their son.
